Job summary

RBC Bearings Incorporated in the Los Angeles area is seeking an Operations Manager (Aerospace) to lead production operations and oversee the P&L for a designated manufacturing line in California.

This full-time role focuses on achieving KPI/CPI targets, optimizing schedules, safety, and cost control, while mentoring supervisors and coordinating with supply chains. Excellent leadership and manufacturing experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college.
  • 3–5 years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is desirable.
  • Experience with CNC machines and equipment.
  • Familiarity with earned hours, overhead rates, and factor costs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise departmental supervisors to meet schedules, quality, and efficiency on a line-item basis.
  • Plan production schedules to meet sales order book and coordinate with production control.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed and enforced.
  • Identify improvements to reduce scrap and overall costs; propose efficiency gains.
  • Mentor supervisors and develop operator training to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Prepare reports on departmental budgets and progress.
  • Support annual evaluation process for employee development and goal setting.

Operations Manager

The individual will be responsible for product line P&L and will achieve key operating metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This role is responsible for achieving both KPI and CPI results through problem solving and decision making on the factory floor.

Examples of Essential Functions:
  • Exercises direct supervision over departmental supervisors to achieve schedules, quality, and efficiency on a line-item basis.
  • Plans production schedule for the designated manufacturing area in an effort to meet sales order book. Works with production control to ensure parts, process sheets and raw materials are aligned.
  • Accountable for maintaining discipline in accordance with company policy and for maintaining health and safety regulations and their enforcement.
  • Participates in the decision-making process for improvements to reduce scrap and overall costs. Recommends suggestions that would improve the efficiency and quality of products.
  • Mentor's supervisors to improve their skills and growth. Develop operator training matrix to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Follows and administers budgets determined by Plant Manager. Prepare reports outlining progress as it pertains to departmental budget guidelines.
  • Utilizes the annual evaluation process as a communication tool with employees for goal setting and development programs.

Experience/Training/Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university and three to five years related manufacturing experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Desirable: Experience working in Aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experienced with CNC machines and equipment
  • Familiarity with earned hours, overhead rates, and factor costs.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have knowledge of Data Base Software, Manufacturing Software, Spreadsheet Software and Word Processing software.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within the office and manufacturing areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Special Requirements/Certification (travel, extended hours, etc.):

Some travel may be required to visit customers or suppliers. This is an exempt position, and hours will vary depending on business needs; some Saturdays will be required.

MIN/MAX:

$120k-$150k
