Job summary

Medline Industries in Northfield, Illinois seeks an Operations Engineer through the OMDP to drive continuous improvement across Medline's distribution centers. You will work on Lean projects, optimize labor standards, and maintain LMS/WMS systems within an agile setting.

The program spans circa two and a half years, offering exposure to transportation/logistics, project management, and supply chain optimization while developing leadership and technical skills for future operations leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Systems strongly preferred).
  • Internship experience in process improvement and/or project management is strongly preferred.
  • Travel required 30% of the time.
  • Unrestricted permanent US work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement projects within the Medline distribution centers using lean methodology.
  • Engineering labor standards and development of new processes.
  • Tracking/reviewing monthly/annual KPIs with the distribution centers.
  • Configuration and maintenance of Medline's labor management system (LMS) and warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Oversee a medium to large scale project including vendor and budget management.
  • Design and serve as product owner for software enhancements within an agile framework.
  • Support technology go lives and existing software solutions.
  • Oversee how items move through the warehouse and optimize key performance metrics.

An Operations Engineer is responsible for continuous improvement within Medline's distribution centers. The goal of the operations management development program is to expose you to areas within distribution including warehouse management, inventory management, transportation/ logistics, supply chain management and customer service. Typical program length is approximately, but not limited to, two and a half years in order to fully develop skills required to advance your career into operations management.

Available Rotations with Core Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities
  • Continuous improvement projects within the Medline distribution centers using lean methodology.
  • Engineering labor standards and development of new processes.
  • Tracking/reviewing monthly/annual KPIs with the distribution centers.
  • Configuration and maintenance of Medline's labor management system (LMS) and warehouse management system (WMS).
Available Rotations
  • Transportation/Logistics - Improve processes for Medline's private fleet as well as implement new technology.
  • Project Management & Emerging Technology - Aid in the evaluation of new technology solutions and support Medline's business abroad.
  • - Oversee a medium to large scale project including vendor and budget management.
  • Operations Systems - Design and serve as product owner for software enhancements within an agile framework.
  • Support technology go lives and existing software solutions.
  • Operations Analytics - Oversee how items move through the warehouse and optimize key performance metrics.
  • Maintenance - Increase automation uptime and optimize forklift fleet management.
  • Supply Chain Optimization - Work directly with Medline's customers to improve processes in their environments.
  • Inventory Control - Enhance processes that improve inventory accuracy, minimize losses, and ensure customer order quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Systems strongly preferred)

Salary

The anticipated salary range for this position: $79,000.00 - $119,000.00 Annual. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.

Benefits

Our benefit package includes health insurance, life and disability, 401(k) contributions, paid time off, etc., for employees working 30 or more hours per week on average. For roles where employees work less than 30 hours per week, benefits include 401(k) contributions, paid time off, as well as access to the Employee Assistance Program, Employee Resource Groups and the Employee Service Corp.
