Job summary

Veolia in North America is seeking an O&M Tech I to operate and maintain equipment in a chemical/industrial facility to purify water according to customer specifications.

The role requires working outdoors in inclement weather, learning and operating pumps, engines, centrifuges, and other processing equipment as part of a team with on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some related experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and comprehend English and perform basic math.
• Ability to work as part of a team and assume new responsibilities.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain de-watering treatment and testing equipment.
• Learn and independently operate pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Work in a team and assume additional responsibilities.
• Work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Be available for rotational 24-hour on-call emergencies if required by site.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

The O&M Tech I operates and maintains equipment, de-watering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in chemical/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.
• Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and
• equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Job will require working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some experience in a related position and environment is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.
• Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
• Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must demonstrate the abilityto work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• Must possess a valid drivers license and a safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 40-50/Lb. bags while loading material in tanks.
