Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard is seeking a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler for our Catawba, SC mill. The role focuses on prioritizing and coordinating maintenance work with operations to maximize uptime and safety.

Responsibilities include reviewing work orders, approving tasks, planning shutdowns, and ensuring proper permits and lockouts are in place. A four-year engineering degree or equivalent experience is required, with strong mill process knowledge and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of operating an integrated pulp, water & paper mill.
  • Strong kraft pulping process knowledge.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions and build trust.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance short and long-term priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Review work order priorities, including emergency and break-in orders.
  • Approve or reject maintenance work requests.
  • Coordinate maintenance work execution between operations and maintenance.
  • Determine if an equipment shutdown is required and plan accordingly.
  • Adjust priorities to accommodate emergencies or changes in schedule.
  • Coordinate housekeeping and lockouts/tag-outs for maintenance work.
  • Arrange permits for confined space entry and hot work.
  • Communicate with maintenance planning and supervision about backlog and scheduling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews work order priorities, including emergency and break-in work orders, based on knowledge of product demand, management direction and operational expectations
  • Approves or rejects all maintenance work requests
  • Determine jobs that can and should be handled by operations
  • Coordinates maintenance work execution between operations and maintenance
  • Determine whether jobs require an equipment shutdown
  • Adjusts priorities of scheduled work-in-progress to execute emergency or break-in work
  • Coordinates required housekeeping for maintenance work
  • Coordinates lockouts and tag-outs of equipment for maintenance work
  • Coordinates required permits for confined space entry and hot work
  • Communicates directly with maintenance in the planning of work in the backlog that is not ready to be scheduled
  • Communicates directly with maintenance supervision, team leaders and crafts in the scheduling of work that has been planned is ready to be scheduled

QualificationsSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent operational experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of the operation of an integrated pulp & water& paper mill.
  • Strong kraft pulping process knowledge.
  • Strong problem solving skills
