Position Summary

The Louisville Operations Lead directs day-to-day operations at the Louisville terminal, managing an assigned dedicated driver fleet serving automotive customers. This position is the primary on-site presence for drivers and is accountable for service performance, safety, data integrity, and driver retention at the location.

Because Louisville is a small site with limited on-site support, the ideal candidate is a self-directed, solutions-oriented professional who takes ownership of outcomes and communicates effectively with drivers, customers, and remote support teams.

  • Manage an assigned dedicated driver fleet, including safety performance, start-time and delivery window adherence, attendance, and equipment condition.
  • Serve as the primary on-site driver contact, providing daily hands-on support to drive engagement and retention.
  • Cover open loads during the assigned shift and communicate capacity constraints and lane issues to the Fleet Manager team.
  • Complete daily yard checks and maintain accurate tractor and trailer locations in the system.
  • Maintain operational data integrity, ensuring loads are called, drivers are assigned, and information is entered accurately and on time.
  • Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) availability and support on-time service to automotive customer schedules.
  • Serve as the on-site liaison between drivers, customers, and West Side Transport, clearly communicating expectations for each load.
  • Support DOT compliance activities, including physicals and drug screens, in coordination with the Canton team.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by supporting compliance with DOT regulations, HOS requirements, driver qualification standards, accident reporting procedures, and company safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Respond promptly to operational challenges, customer service concerns, and equipment breakdowns, coordinating with maintenance, safety, and other departments as needed.
  • Assist with the onboarding, training, and coaching of assigned drivers to ensure adherence to company standards and best practices.
  • Recognize signs of driver dissatisfaction, respond promptly to concerns, and elevate issues to management when appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One or more years of experience in transportation, dispatch, or terminal operations.

Preferred

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, dispatch, or terminal operations.
  • Prior experience supporting a dedicated fleet or automotive customer operation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance requirements, and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to own outcomes and exercise sound judgment with limited on-site supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work comfortably with drivers, customers, and support teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with excellent documentation and data-entry accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call schedules as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers and telephones.
  • Daily walking throughout the terminal and yard, including on uneven surfaces and in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
