Job summary

Lubrizol is seeking an Operations & Environmental Specialist to safeguard and optimize manufacturing operations. You will work with operators, maintenance teams, and site leaders to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and safety program development to enhance plant performance and employee development across Lubrizol facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial operations.
• Knowledge of EH&S regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as EH&S subject matter expert for the assigned unit.

How You’ll Make An Impact

As an Operations & Environmental Specialist you'll play a critical role in shaping the safety, reliability, and performance of our operations. Serving as both a trusted technical expert and environmental specialist, you'll partner with operators, engineers, maintenance teams, and site leaders to solve complex challenges, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement. In this highly visible role, you'll help ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen operational excellence, and advance a culture where safety, sustainability, and innovation thrive. Your expertise will directly influence plant performance, employee development, environmental stewardship, and the successful execution of projects that support Lubrizol's long-term growth and success.

In This Role You'll

• Serve as the technical and environmental, health, and safety subject matter expert for the assigned unit or process area.
• Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to operators, enhancing technical competency, troubleshooting capabilities, and operational effectiveness.
• Support process and equipment performance improvement by identifying, investigating, and resolving technical issues.
• Lead and participate in root cause analyses, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation.
• Partner with maintenance, reliability, engineering, and operations teams to improve asset utilization, productivity, and reliability.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety, health, environmental, and regulatory compliance programs and procedures.
• Monitor compliance activities, audits, inspections, data collection, and reporting requirements to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
• Provide EH&S guidance for projects, outages, turnarounds, and operational change initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts by sharing best practices, identifying opportunities, and supporting implementation of operational standards.

Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial operations, or a related environment.

• Knowledge of process equipment, troubleshooting methodologies, and root cause analysis techniques.
• Understanding of environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong communication, coaching, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across functions.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement sustainable improvements.

Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional certifications related to safety, environmental compliance, reliability, or process improvement.
• Experience with process safety management, regulatory audits, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience using environmental reporting, maintenance, reliability, or manufacturing systems.
