Job description

We’re currently hiring for remote team members in the following states: DC, DE, GA, MA, MD, NC, NH, NJ, OH, PA, SC, UT, and VA.

We’re AWeber, a remote-first company that helps small businesses around the world form meaningful connections with their customers and grow their businesses using our marketing communication software. We are fanatical about small businesses and we hope you are too!

At AWeber, AI agents produce the vast majority of the infrastructure configuration and code we ship. As an Operations Engineer II, you’ll spend most of your time designing and building solutions for AI agents to implement, reviewing agent‑generated configuration and code for quality, correctness, and maintainability, and coordinating that work across systems — all in service of keeping AWeber’s core operational platform reliable, secure, and fast.

This is a hands‑on ops role at the center of a busy, AI-first environment. You’ll be trusted with real production responsibility early — provisioning infrastructure, tuning monitoring and alerting, and participating in our 24x7 on-call rotation — while building the engineering judgment that comes from working closely with production systems. You won’t be doing this alone: you’ll be coordinating with adjacent teams, leaning on established patterns, and taking ownership of small‑to‑medium projects as you go.

On any given day, you could be found defining infrastructure as code in Terraform, reviewing an agent’s proposed Kubernetes change before it ships, wiring up a new alert in Grafana so the next incident gets caught sooner, generating documentation that’s usable by both humans and AI agents, or working a release through GitHub and our deployment pipeline.

You’ll thrive as an Operations Engineer II if you…
  • Are detail‑oriented and genuinely curious — you want to know why something broke, not just that it’s fixed.
  • Can manage context switches and competing priorities without losing quality or your footing.
  • Care about outcomes over output, and hold yourself to delivering results, not just tickets closed.
  • Have a growth mindset — you learn from experience and iterate on how you work, including how you work with AI.
  • Are self‑motivated to adopt AI‑assisted development practices rather than waiting to be told to.
  • Have a bias for action and real ownership mentality, balanced with the humility to ask for help.
  • Stay resilient through setbacks, shifting priorities, and ambiguity, without letting quality slip.
  • Connect your day-to-day work to customer impact, and bring that perspective to your teammates.
  • Are comfortable working autonomously on small‑to‑medium projects, while staying highly collaborative with the rest of the team.
