Overview

Global Engineering Services (GES) North America (NA) Operations Engineering (Ops Eng) is seeking an innovative and solutions‑oriented Operations Engineer to root cause, solve, and scale systemic engineering challenges in First and Middle Mile Operations.

We’re looking for a high‑impact operations engineer who will collaborate with internal and external teams to develop, monitor and innovate cost‑effective solutions for our sortation and distribution systems. In this role, you will work across a variety of building types and lines of business, contributing to the end‑to‑end Ops engineering lifecycle. The team is highly skilled, engaged, and operates in a fast‑paced, often ambiguous environment with hundreds of projects each year.

This position requires 50‑70% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office; relocation assistance may be provided.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate efforts to develop optimal solutions and processes for the sortation and transportation network through process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions in very short periods of time.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Communicate effectively, providing detailed roadmaps and specific technical solutions.
  • Travel Requirements: 50‑70%

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL
  • Experience managing third‑party vendors
  • Experience with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing
  • Experience developing and implementing standards, policies, and programs or equivalent
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and high‑speed manufacturing systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM field
  • Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM requirements
  • Experience working with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
  • Experience in capital project management involving ownership/management of engineering design projects
  • Experience with design‑in‑safety
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams
