Job Title: Operations Engineer

Location: Midland, TX (In Person)

Reports To: VP, Engineering & Construction

FLSA Status: Exempt

Travel: less than 40% to field locations

Purpose

The Operations Engineer provides engineering and operational support for water infrastructure systems across the Permian and Delaware Basins. This role applies advanced hydraulic, facilities, and operations knowledge to optimize system performance, support field execution, manage capital projects, and contribute to commercial and business development initiatives. The position works closely with engineering, operations, procurement, regulatory, land, and commercial teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient execution of infrastructure and operational objectives.

Role/Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering and operational support for water infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinate and support safe, reliable, and efficient operations across facilities and projects.
  • Apply advanced hydraulic knowledge to optimize pump configurations, pipeline systems, and water transfer operations.
  • Oversee hydraulic modeling for Midland and Delaware Basin systems.
  • Support production chemical programs and efforts to maximize downhole volumes.
  • Assist with optimizing facility H-pumps while working closely with the ops team.
  • Assist with well workovers, acid jobs, wireline operations, and downhole sampling activities.
  • Evaluate equipment sizing, pump selection, facility layouts, and process optimization opportunities.
  • Provide technical input for pipeline sizing, infrastructure configuration, and new development planning.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and design packages.
  • Coordinate with third‑party engineering firms and consultants as needed.
  • Develop and execute project schedules, testing plans, and project closeout activities.
  • Develop project cost estimates and Authority for Expenditure (AFEs) documentation.
  • Track project budgets, review invoices, and report variances against approved expenditures.
  • Manage post‑project documentation, including as‑built records, job book reviews, and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with Procurement on purchase orders, sourcing activities, and vendor coordination.
  • Manage engineering consultants, equipment vendors, and construction contractors.
  • Ensure accurate operational data collection and volume reporting.
  • Prepare clear technical reports and project documentation.
  • Coordinate permitting and right‑of‑way activities with land and regulatory teams.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and environmental guidelines.
  • Support safe operating practices across all field and office activities.
  • Support business development efforts with new and existing customers.
  • Provide technical support for commercial proposals, contract negotiations, and infrastructure scoping.
  • Develop technical materials for customers and investor presentations.
  • Collaborate with business development and sourcing teams to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Support acquisition evaluations, engineering due diligence, infrastructure assessments, and integration planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas, water management, or midstream operations.
  • Experience in the Midland/Permian and Delaware Basins.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, water transfer systems, pipeline and facility infrastructure, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Experience with SCADA and measurement systems.
  • Experience with poly pipelines, valve settings and SWD facility design.
  • Familiarity with Texas and New Mexico oil and gas regulations.
  • Experience with budget management, AFE development, vendor and contractor management, engineering project execution, and procurement processes.
  • Business development experience in the water management sector.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and infrastructure integration projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, commercial, and field teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent field travel.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to travel to field or office locations as needed.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional travel to field locations, construction sites, and operational facilities may be required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and dust.
