Job summary

Continental Battery Systems in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Delivery Driver / Warehouse Associate to join our team. This role supports customer purchases through safe product delivery, battery recycling, and refilling consignments, with routine warehouse duties.

The successful candidate will drive a non-CDL class B/C vehicle, follow safety procedures, and maintain accurate records while providing excellent customer service and building relationships with our distributors and customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• MVR with minimal safety concerns in the past 3 years.
• Delivery or warehouse experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products and pick up used batteries for customers.

Job Title: Delivery Driver / Warehouse Associate Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee Pay Rate: $19.00 / hour Classification: Full-Time/Part-Time, Regular/Temp, Non-Exempt Exclusively Schedule: Commonly an 8-hour shift scheduled between 7 AM and 6 PM, Monday-Friday with occasional weekends

General Description

A person in this position is responsible for safely driving a class B or C vehicle, not requiring a CDL, to regularly perform deliveries to support customer purchases and improve relationships. This role includes managing and replenishing consignments, recovering used batteries, and performing customer installations.

Additional tasks involve warehouse duties as associated with shipping, receiving, labeling, loading, inventory control, reconditioning used batteries, and battery maintenance. Experience with safe driving practices and material handling equipment and processes is significant.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver products, pick up used batteries, and maintain/replenish consignment products for customers.
• Plan efficient routes, ensure proper, staged, and safe stocking of the vehicle, and assist in the loading and unloading process.
• Assist retail customers and perform battery installations.
• Load and offload vehicles, prepare shipments, label products, and ensure the warehouse is orderly, safe, and clean.
• Perform battery charging, reconditioning, and inventory cycle counts.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all customer transactions and coordinate regularly with your supervisor to achieve targeted sales objectives.
• Create and maintain promoters of clients, obtain referrals, generate leads, and educate customers on products.
• Train personnel on mastered job processes and perform facility and equipment maintenance tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 3.0 or higher GPA preferred.
• MVR with little to no safety concerns within the past 3 years.
• Previous delivery or warehouse experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of courteous and safe driving procedures (including forklift) in multiple vehicle types.
• General knowledge of HAZCOM safety procedures, DOT/HOS requirements, inventory tracking, and safe material handling.
• General skill in communicating and building positive rapport with customers to deliver quality customer service.
• Basic skill in computer, tablet, and smart-phone use, including Google Workspace and ERP applications (NetSuite preferred).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• This is primarily a non-stationary position working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
• Requires significant physical strength, physical resilience, and mental alertness to safely drive and work in diverse hazardous locations.
• Occasionally requires carrying products weighing up to 125 lbs across diverse customer conditions, with group lifts required for heavier weight.
• Employees may push pallets (using a pallet jack) or push wheeled carts with products weighing over 3,000 lbs.
• Stacking of batteries occurs from time to time, requiring physical endurance to move individual units in quantities exceeding 2 tons in a day.
• Required personal protective equipment consists of a uniform, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toe shoes with non-slip soles.
