Job description

Supernova Defense and Space is revolutionizing the manufacturing of energetic material components. We create cutting-edge manufacturing solutions using an innovative 3D printing platform that integrates advanced materials, machines, and software to produce solid rocket motor propellant grains and high-explosive charges.

Your Mission

You will build and manage the operational and compliance infrastructure required for Supernova to execute U.S. Government defense programs involving advanced manufacturing and energetic materials.

You will work cross-functionally across compliance, facility setup, security, operations and program management. Initially, your focus will be establishing the systems, licenses and processes required for Supernova to operate as a U.S. defense contractor and handle energetic materials. As these capabilities come online, you will progressively take ownership of the execution of active government programs.

This is a highly hands-on role in a small, fast-moving team. You will be expected to identify requirements, coordinate external experts and government stakeholders, implement practical solutions internally and personally drive projects through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup and ongoing management of Supernova’s U.S. defense compliance program.
  • Lead the regulatory and operational setup of Supernova’s U.S. energetics facility, including the licenses, permits and procedures required to operate.
  • Coordinate external counsel, consultants, government agencies, customers and internal teams to drive compliance and facility-readiness workstreams to completion.
  • Build and maintain practical internal processes, policies, documentation, training and controls required to support compliant operations.
  • Manage selected U.S. Government programs from award through execution, including schedules, milestones, deliverables, reporting and customer communication.
  • Translate contractual, regulatory and customer requirements into clear actions for the internal team.
  • Own cross-functional projects beyond compliance and program management when needed to support the company’s growth and operations.

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience in defense, aerospace, energetics, government contracting or another highly regulated technical environment.
  • Hands-on experience implementing compliance, regulatory or facility-readiness requirements.
  • Experience managing technical or U.S. Government programs.
  • Strong project-management, communication and documentation skills.
  • Technical background preferred, ideally engineering or chemistry.
  • Experience with energetic materials, regulated facilities or defense security/compliance is a strong plus.
  • Highly flexible, hands-on and comfortable taking broad ownership in an early-stage startup.
