Job summary

Delta Dental of Iowa invites interns to join for Summer 2027 as an Operations Business Analyst Intern. You will analyze operational data, create Power BI reports, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive efficiency and AI-enabled solutions. This temporary, full-time internship will start May 19, 2027, and work from our Johnston, Iowa location, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.

– 4:30 p.m. Gain hands-on project management experience, present findings to leadership, and participate in networking

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, MIS, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (verified through transcript).
• Current enrollment in a college or university.
• Experience with Microsoft products including Excel, Teams, PowerPoint or comparable tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Submit a written analysis of project work and present a summary to leadership at program end.
• Freshman/Sophomore candidates participate in Insure Your Future leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational data to identify trends, generate insights, and support data-driven decisions.
• Design, build, and enhance reports and dashboards in Power BI for analytics.
• Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business needs.
• Review existing processes to identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
• Explore AI, automation, and emerging technologies for innovative solutions.
• Assist with project planning, organization, and prioritization on real-world projects.
• Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and updates to leaders.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external teams.
• Complete special projects on time with high quality.
• Engage in internship programs and networking opportunities.
• Support internship program by driving participation among peers.
• Represent Delta Dental of Iowa professionally both internally and externally.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Learning Objectives:

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external teams.
• Complete special projects on time with high quality.
• Engage in programs and networking opportunities to strengthen business acumen in the insurance industry.
• Support internship program by motivating and driving participation among intern peers to fully engage with opportunities available throughout the summer.
• Represent Delta Dental of Iowa as well as the other Delta Dental companies in a professional manner both internally and externally.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

1. Must be an undergraduate student working toward a bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, Economics, or related field.

1. SharePoint and SQL experience.
