Agave in San Francisco is seeking a sharp generalist to own the operational backbone—revenue operations, billing, and vendor/payments. You will implement lightweight systems, maintain an up-to-date view of revenue, and ensure accurate, timely money movement as we scale.
You’ll join a small, high-caliber team and wear many hats, from invoicing to events and assets. Ideal candidates have top university credentials and startup ops exposure.
tl;dr Fresh off a $15M Series A led by Accel (total funding now $20M+), Agave is profitable, growing fast, and scaling the team. We're hiring a sharp, resourceful generalist to help run the operational backbone of the company — the systems and processes that keep money moving and the business running cleanly as we scale. Learn more about us here (link).
We're building the financial ops platform for construction, a $12T global industry run by software built 20-40 years ago, much of it on-prem with no APIs and no documentation. We spent 3 years building the rails to read and write across those systems, and we use them to deploy AI for invoicing, expenses, compliance, billing, and more. We have 550+ customers and have been profitable & cashflow positive for over two years. We're backed by Accel and Y Combinator, with investors from Procore, Autodesk, and Plaid. Our three co-founders have worked together for 12+ years, across Graphiq (acquired by Amazon in 2017) and Amazon. We’ve built something people actually need, in a market most of Silicon Valley ignores — which is exactly why we’re winning. The only thing slowing us down is hiring. Our team is small, scrappy, and high-caliber, and we’re looking for the next wave of builders who will help take Agave from breakout startup to category-defining company.
We're growing fast, and the operational surface area of the business is expanding just as quickly. More customers means more invoices to send, more payments to track, more partners to pay, and more processes that can't stay in someone's head or a one-off spreadsheet. We need someone to own how the business actually runs behind the scenes: making sure money moves accurately and on time, partners are paid correctly, and our external presence stays sharp.
You like being the person who makes the trains run on time. You get satisfaction from turning chaos into a clean system. You're energized by variety. One day it's reconciling revenue, the next it's planning a conference or standing up a new tool, and you like it that way. You're early in your career and want outsized ownership. You'll touch nearly every part of how the business runs, which gives you an unusually broad view and fast growth. You sweat the details.
You want a narrow, well-defined lane. The scope here will evolve as we grow — you'll wear many hats and figure things out with limited direction. You want to focus purely on strategy. This role is about execution and ownership of real operational work, not building decks about it. You want a slow ramp. We'll expect you to take real ownership of live processes quickly — invoicing, payments, and partner payouts don't wait. You prefer remote work. We're in-person in San Francisco 5 days/week.
We've built Agave in-person since day 1, and will maintain an in-person culture in San Francisco going forward. We form tighter bonds, build a stronger culture, and move faster since we're all working from one location. Our office is at 101 New Montgomery Street, San Francisco, right near Salesforce Park, coffee shops & restaurants, and a bustling downtown. We believe building in-person is a huge strategic advantage, and we hope you’ll join us.
