Job summary

Blue Signal Search seeks an experienced Operational Technology Network Engineer to design, implement, and support OT networking for mission-critical facilities in a hybrid San Francisco and nationwide remote environment.

You will collaborate with facilities and controls teams to ensure secure segmentation, reliable connectivity, and scalable architectures while maintaining high availability and cybersecurity alignment.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in OT, industrial, or critical infrastructure networks.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and security.
• Experience with building automation or process control systems.
• Familiarity with BACnet/IP or similar protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support OT network infrastructure serving critical facility systems.
• Develop secure network architectures supporting building automation, electrical monitoring, and controls.
• Establish repeatable infrastructure rollout practices for reliable growth.
• Configure and maintain network segmentation, firewall policies, routing, switching, and secure remote connectivity.
• Partner with facilities, controls, commissioning, and infrastructure teams throughout lifecycles.
• Monitor network health, troubleshoot, and optimize performance with high availability.
• Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, access controls, and compliance in OT environments.
• Produce technical documentation, standards, diagrams, and procedures.
• Support commissioning activities, upgrades, and operational improvements.

• Produce technical documentation, implementation standards, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Support commissioning activities, infrastructure upgrades, and ongoing operational improvements.

Skill Set

• Several years of experience designing and supporting operational technology, industrial, or critical infrastructure networks.
• Strong understanding of Ethernet networking, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and network security principles.
• Experience supporting building automation systems, industrial controls, facility management systems, or similar operational technologies.
• Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including BACnet/IP or comparable technologies.
• Experience implementing secure network segmentation and firewall solutions within operational environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with controls engineers, facilities teams, and infrastructure stakeholders.
• Familiarity with network monitoring, diagnostics, and performance optimization tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex networking challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supporting data center infrastructure, industrial cybersecurity frameworks, or critical facility environments is considered a plus.
