Sopra Steria Limited is seeking an Operational Risk Manager on a 6‑month contract. You will embed a strong risk culture and provide oversight across operational delivery, resilience and third‑party arrangements.

This hybrid role involves travel to client sites in the Northwest and East and contributes to risk awareness and control ownership. The role demands a solid understanding of risk management principles in financial services, plus RCSA, control testing and effective stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop risk reporting and MI to identify trends and emerging risks.
• Support operational resilience and incident management, including root cause analysis.
• Build relationships across the business and coach teams on risk awareness and control ownership.

Are you passionate about helping businesses make well-informed, risk-based decisions while protecting customers and strengthening operational resilience? We're looking for an Operational Risk Manager to join our Risk & Compliance management team, supporting the delivery of services for one of the UK's largest and most trusted financial service providers on a 6-month contract. In this role, you'll help embed a strong risk culture across the operation, providing oversight, challenge and practical support to teams managing operational delivery, change activity, incidents, operational resilience and third‑party arrangements. You'll be part of a collaborative team that is committed to delivering positive customer outcomes, building trusted relationships and continuously improving the way we work. This is a hybrid remote role, with frequent travel to client sites across the Northwest and East as required.

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing and enhancing the Risk Management Framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory, contractual and client requirements.
• Overseeing risk management practices across operational delivery, change activity, incidents, operational resilience and third‑party arrangements.
• Leading the review, challenge and oversight of Risk & Control Self-Assessment and control testing activity.
• Developing risk reporting, management information and insight to identify trends, emerging risks and areas requiring attention.
• Supporting operational resilience and incident management activities, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Building trusted relationships across the business and providing guidance, coaching and challenge to strengthen risk awareness and control ownership.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong understanding of risk management principles and frameworks within a financial services or regulated environment.
• Experience managing Risk & Control Self-Assessment, control testing, issue management, supplier risk and operational resilience activities.
• Ability to provide effective second‑line oversight, review and challenge while maintaining a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret risk data and identify meaningful trends and insights.
• Experience influencing stakeholders and supporting effective risk‑based decision making.
• Leadership skills with the ability to support, coach and develop colleagues while contributing to risk management strategy.

It would be great if you had:

• Experience working within a banking, savings, collections or financial services environment.
• Experience supporting business, risk or committee governance activities within financial services.
• Knowledge of operational resilience, incident management, change governance, third‑party risk, Consumer Duty and relevant regulatory expectations.

Employment Type: Full‑time, Fixed Term Contract. Location: North of England

Salary: Upto £48,000
