Job summary

Vaco is seeking an Operational Excellence Engineer in Monroe, OH to drive process improvements and implement Lean manufacturing principles. The role focuses on waste identification, process upgrades, and fostering continuous improvement under TPS concepts.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, collaborative, and capable of applying Lean/Six Sigma methodologies hands-on, reporting to the Operational Excellence Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant engineering field; strong understanding of industrial processes.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proven ability to analyze data, identify waste, and implement practical improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies, developing and implementing process improvement plans.
• Support daily operations by identifying inefficiencies and recommending practical solutions.
• Collect and analyze process performance data, including cycle time, takt time, throughput, and other key metrics.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational processes and drive sustainable results.
• Develop and maintain standardized work documentation, visual controls, and 5S standards throughout the facility.
• Train and mentor employees on continuous improvement principles, tools, and best practices.
• Partner with operations teams to ensure process improvements are sustained and performance metrics continue to improve.

Salary: 90-115,000/yr

The Operational Excellence Engineer is responsible for driving process improvements and operational efficiencies across the organization. This role focuses on identifying waste, improving processes, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement using the principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS). The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and eager to apply Lean manufacturing methodologies in a hands-on environment. This position reports to the Operational Excellence Manager.

Qualifications:

• Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


• Previous experience (including internships) in manufacturing, process improvement, or operational excellence preferred.


• Familiarity with Toyota Production System (TPS) concepts preferred.


• Experience with time studies, value stream mapping, and 5S methodologies preferred.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
