Job summary

Operation Blessing in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to direct its U.S. Hunger Relief programs.

This role will guide the evolution of OB's domestic hunger-relief strategy through our Help & Hope framework prioritizing children, working through trusted church and community partnerships, and bringing together OB's ministry offerings in nutrition, evangelism, discipleship, and education to serve individuals, families, and communities.

Qualifications

• Proven senior-level leadership experience developing and managing complex programs within a humanitarian, nonprofit, or community-based organization.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and translate organizational mission and vision into effective, scalable programs.
• Experience leading program innovation, transformation, redesign, or continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of hunger, food insecurity, and the challenges facing children and families experiencing food insecurity.
• Demonstrated ability to build and strengthen trusted partnerships with local churches and community organizations.
• Ability to build and lead effective teams, fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Experience managing budgets, resources, program performance, and measurable outcomes.
• Ability to use data and evaluation to inform strategic decisions.

Hunger Relief Virginia Beach, VA

Operation Blessing (OB) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to direct and advance its U.S. Hunger Relief programs. This role will lead the continued evolution of OB's domestic hunger-relief strategy through ourHelp & Hope framework prioritizing children, working through trusted church and community partnerships, and bringing together OB's ministry offerings in nutrition, evangelism, discipleship, and education to serve individuals, families, and communities.

The Director will help translate this strategy into effective, scalable programs that meet immediate needs while creating pathways toward greater stability and self-sufficiency. Working closely with OB leadership, Domestic Operations, and other ministry teams, the Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for program development, implementation, partnerships, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The Director will help ensure programs are impactful, scalable, operationally sound, and aligned with OB's mission and strategic priorities.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 annually. Final compensation within this range will be determined based on a combination of education, relevant experience, and demonstrated skills aligned with the role requirements.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to develop and strengthen trusted partnerships with local churches and community organizations, with an understanding of how collaborative ministry can extend impact and create pathways toward lasting stability
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead effective teams, developing staff and fostering accountability, collaboration, and excellence
• Strong experience managing budgets, resources, program performance, and measurable outcomes
• Ability to use data, evaluation, and feedback to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic decisions
• Ability to collaborate across ministries and departments to integrate resources and capabilities in support of program goals
• Strong understanding of the operational requirements of hunger-relief programs, including food quality and safety, product sourcing, inventory, logistics, and distribution
• Excellent project management, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, staff, partners, donors, churches, and community stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and professional relationships across all levels of an organization
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments while also exercising sound independent judgment and decision-making
• Proficiency with technology applications and productivity tools, including Microsoft 365 and similar platforms, with the ability to learn and effectively utilize new technologies
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed
• Demonstrate life application of Biblical principles and practices in alignment with OB's Christian mission
