Job summary

Prime Healthcare’s Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL is seeking an Operating Room Technologist to support the surgical team. You will prepare, maintain, and assist in the OR to ensure surgeries run smoothly, manage instruments, and uphold a sterile field.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, ORT training (or on-the-job training) and a current BLS certificate. Shifts are days, 8 hours, full‑time temporary, with typical hours from 6:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
• Experience scrubbing both general and selected surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and sterilizing equipment.
• Ensure all equipment functions properly before surgery.
• Assist with draping and maintaining a sterile field.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures as needed.
• Monitor the sterile field and replace items to prevent contamination.

Location: Riverview Regional MedicalCenter– Gadsden, AL

We are seeking anOperating Room Technologist,sometimesreferred toas aSurgical Technician, Surgical Tech,orScrubTech.An OR Tech willprepare,maintain, andassistin the operating room (OR) to ensure surgeries run smoothly and safely, including management surgical instruments.You will be part of thesurgical team, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to create a safe and efficient environment for surgery,helping surgeriesproceedsmoothly.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterilizing equipment, and arranging necessary supplies such as surgical drapes, sponges, and gowns

• Ensure all equipment is functioning properly before the surgery begins, this may include surgical lights, suction machines, and monitoring devices

• Assistwith preparing and draping the surgical site on the patient tomaintaina sterile field, helping prevent infections

• Hand instruments, sponges, and other supplies to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure, know the functions of each tool, andanticipatewhat the surgeon may need next

• Monitor the sterile field and ensure itremainsuncontaminated, if anything becomes unsterile, it is their responsibility to quickly replace it or inform the team

• Count all instruments, sponges, and other materials before and after surgery

• Reset the operating room after surgery, ensure it is stocked and organized for the next procedure, following strict protocols for safety and hygiene

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (i.e., GYN, General and Plastics)

• Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.).

• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current

• Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience surgical setting, preferred
