Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Technician I for the Main Operating Room at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. The role runs a 11:00am-7:30pm shift with occasional weekends, nights and holidays.

You will function as scrub person, circulation assistant, and integral member of the surgical team. The position requires NBSTSA certification or completion within six months, a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification must be NBSTSA certified or obtained within six months of hire.
• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program or equivalent acute care training.

Responsibilities

• Serve as scrub person during general surgery procedures.
• Act as circulation assistant to surgeons.
• Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment in the Operating Room.

This is a full time position working 11:00am-7:30pm at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Occasional weekends, nights, and holidays are required.

Preferred Criteria

• Prior experience as an OR/Surgical Tech in an acute care setting

Required Criteria

• Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Certification (NBSTSA) or if a new graduate, must supply exam date prior to start of employment. Certification must be obtained within six months of hire and complete a probationary period of six (6) months from date of hire
• Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician or comparable training program or experience as on O.R. Technician/Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting
• High school diploma or GED
