Job summary

UNC Health Care in Hendersonville, NC seeks a Clinical Nurse to coordinate and deliver patient care in a surgical setting using the nursing process. The role supports the OR team with care planning, safety, and collaboration to achieve optimal outcomes.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or a compact state by the day of clinical care and BLS certification are required. Work is full time, onsite, with a day schedule and 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or a compact state by the day of clinical care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Administers patient care under physician direction and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Develops a plan of care to protect patient safety and optimize outcomes in surgical procedures.
• Assesses and monitors patients per policy and procedure.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary care team in the provision of surgical care.
• Documents care in the EMR before, during and after the surgical encounter.
• Performs instrument and supply count and ensures patient identification, site marking and consent.
• Communicates with patient/family to update the plan of care with cultural competency.
• Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment and infection control.
