Job summary

Children's Health in Plano is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse in the Operating Room to deliver developmentally appropriate perioperative care. You will work within the Perioperative department, performing nursing processes, and collaborating with a diverse health-care team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

The role requires at least 1 year of nursing experience, a BSN, and active Texas RN licensure with BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • BSN degree required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
  • Active Texas RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribes, delegates and coordinates patient care with clinical judgment to develop an appropriate plan for the patient and family.
  • Ensures patient safety, quality of care and adherence to patient rights and guest relations.
  • Oversees care delivered by the patient care team and coordinates the plan of care.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and the care team with sensitivity to diversity.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health professionals to implement an effective care plan.

Summary

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
  • Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
  • Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
  • Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
  • Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions.
Work Experience
  • At least 1 year of job-related experience is required
EDUCATION
  • BSN
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Registered Nurse-1N-RN Essential Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas
  • Basic Life Support-2R-BLS Essential Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements
