Under physician direction, you will prepare organs for perfusion and monitor preservation parameters, communicating findings to the surgeon.

The Operating Room/Organ Preservation Technician assists the operating room staff before, during and after donor organ recovery procedures, as well as during organ transplant procedures and other hepatobiliary procedures. Under the direction of a physician, prepares organs for perfusion and monitors preservation parameters during perfusion, reporting perfusion parameters to the surgeon. As a certified operating room technician, possesses the knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Responsible for maintaining the Organ Preservation Lab, including ordering, and rotating supplies, and ensuring proper inventory and storage. Ensures that Organ Preservation Lab equipment is optimally maintained. Collects data per UNOS requirements and University Hospital protocols. This position reports to the Operating Room Nursing Management for OR Tech and Organ Preservationist responsibilities and to the Administrative Director of Liver Center administratively as a team member.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly range for this position is TT/2200: Probationary Rate:$33.62 - Job Rate $34.12- Two (2) Year Rate $35.15.
