Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred, with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Rhode Island.
• Conformity to the Code of Professional Nurses.
• Understanding of the Nurse Practice Act of Rhode Island.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care across the lifespan with aging and cultural considerations.
• CPR certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes and reports deviations from patient or established norms.
• Reports patient's responses to treatment and documents nursing interventions.
• Provides basic comfort and support according to patient needs.
• Fosters patient and family participation in achieving optimal functioning and ADLs.
• Sets priorities in individual patient's assignments.
• Seeks guidance and resources when necessary for patient care.
• Identifies and assesses emergency situations and initiates appropriate response.
• Plans for potential needs during emergencies and modifies care plans as needed.
• Defines nursing diagnoses and expected patient outcomes; documents assessments.
• Implements nursing interventions and evaluates outcomes; updates care plan as necessary.
• Maintains knowledge of nursing practice within Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act.
• Attends training to maintain current knowledge of hospital and patient care practices.
• Collaborates with health team to facilitate interventions and outcomes.
• Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities.
• Maintains safety, environmental and infection control per policies.
• Provides care across the lifespan with cultural sensitivity.
• Provides guidance to LPNs, CNAs and other staff as required.
