Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is hiring an Operating Engineer for our Data Center in Richardson, TX. The role focuses on operating, maintaining, and repairing building systems in a high-demand data center environment, with emphasis on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems.

The position requires strong technical and administrative skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Several years of construction or building engineering experience.
• Trade or Maintenance License preferred.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience with various hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Physically able to operate electric hand tools, climb ladders, carry tools up to 70 pounds.
• Able to work in tight spaces and on building roofs.
• Ability to diagnose problems, prioritize, schedule and complete multiple tasks.
• Proven safety record and safe work practices.
• Interpret engineering drawings and equipment manuals.
• CFC Universal Refrigerant Certification.
• Proficient with e-mail, Word, and Excel.
• Exposure to a CMMS system, Corrigo a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair building equipment for efficient operation of systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls).
• Support the property maintenance team and handle customer service requests, active construction projects and event set-ups.
• Assist Chief Engineer with JLL compliance program documentation at account locations.
• Maintain good tenant relations with prompt, courteous responses to requests.
• Perform predictive and preventive maintenance and service requests as directed.
• Occasionally assist contractors and ensure contracted services meet safety standards.
• Maintain and repair locks, doors, and related hardware.
• Maintain and document fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, alarms, and life-safety systems.
• Repair electrical components (breakers, switches, outlets, wiring, lighting, ballasts).
• Repair plumbing components (toilets, urinals, sinks, piping, heaters, sump pumps).
• Provide general maintenance and restorative procedures as directed.
• Prepare and paint interior/exterior surfaces.
• Perform general handyman tasks to maintain buildings.
• Work independently or as part of a team; occasional overtime/holidays.

The primary focus of this position will center on providing high levels of customer service including on-site and on-call plant operational support. The operating technician will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of building operations, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance. Must be able to operate as a team member, support Chief Engineer, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and have strong customer service skills supporting a wide range of clients, contractors and co-employees. **Responsibilities*** Completing work assignments with limited supervision, thoroughly and efficiently.
