Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to maintain and repair building systems at our Carson, CA site. The role supports HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, with on-site presence and a rotating on-call schedule.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in related maintenance, a universal CFC EPA certification (or plan to obtain within a year), and proficiency with Microsoft Office. This position requires physical stamina and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry.
• Trade school, union training, military or college preferred.
• Universal CFC EPA certification or plan to obtain within first year.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Excel/Teams).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders up to 30 ft.
• Strong customer service skills and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections; manage work orders in CMMS.
• Paint, pressure wash, lighting maintenance, locksmith tasks and general upkeep.
• Support on-call and emergency response; ensure safety procedures compliance.
• On-site presence required and participate in ongoing training.

What this job involves:

Develop your engineering career at JLL! The Operating Engineer supports operation, inspection and maintenance processes to mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems.

Schedule:

Saturday & Sunday + rotating on-call (1 week on call every 4 weeks)

What your day-to-day will look like:

• painting
• pressure washing
• maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts
• plumbing
• HVAC systems
• water treatment
• locksmith work
• general maintenance (as allowed by any licensing requirements)
• Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests
• Perform assigned preventive maintenance and inspection tasks
• Support on-call or emergency response situations (if applicable)
• Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls
• Comply with all safety procedures
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
• Other projects and tasks to be assigned
• On-site presence required

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry
• Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
• Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive
• Strong customer service skills

Estimated compensation for this position:

56,160.00 – 62,400.00 USD per year. This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
