Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced OpenRoads Designer to join our transportation team. You will develop detailed roadway and civil design work, create 3D models, and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other specialists to move projects from design through delivery.

The ideal candidate has at least five years using Bentley OpenRoads Designer, a solid grasp of roadway geometry, grading, and drainage, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Strong understanding of roadway geometry, grading, and drainage design principles.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and familiarity with DOT standards and CAD workflows.
• Ability to interpret survey data, utility information, and geotechnical reports.
• Excellent attention to detail and producing high-quality deliverables.
• Strong communication and collaboration with engineers, project managers, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D corridor models, grading plans, and cross-sections that integrate with survey and GIS data.

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Support the preparation of plan sets, quantity take-offs, and digital deliverables for construction bidding.
• Troubleshoot design challenges and propose innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $84,000 - $103,000.
