Job summary

Baxter Hotel Group is opening two Hilton-branded hotels, Tru and Home2 Suites, in downtown San Diego. The Assistant General Manager will help lead daily operations, oversee Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and F&B, and drive brand standards from day one.

The role focuses on guest satisfaction, financial performance, and a strong culture of teamwork, with opportunities for growth within the hotel portfolio and Hilton benefits.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years in a hotel leadership role (AGM, Director of Front Office, Operations Manager, or similar role preferred).
• Pre-opening hotel experience strongly preferred.
• Dual-brand or multi-property experience a plus.
• Hilton brand experience and familiarity with OnQ systems preferred.
• Extended-stay hotel experience, including long-term guest management.
• Food and beverage or bar operations experience a plus.
• P&L, labor management, and budgeting, with a track record of driving guest satisfaction and financial results.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, opening or growth-focused environment.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in the pre-opening phase to ensure departments are operationally ready for launch and participate in brand onboarding.
• Assist the General Manager in overseeing all hotel operations, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage.
• Drive exceptional guest satisfaction and ensure service recovery standards are consistently met.
• Support hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of team members.
• Monitor financial performance, including labor management, revenue optimization, and expense control.
• Ensure compliance with brand standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain a strong, positive workplace culture focused on teamwork and professional growth.
• Serve and act as General Manager in his/her absence.
