Job description

Description

Kiro Crew is an open source, persistent, self‑evolving coding agent built on Kiro CLI. It started as an internal Amazon project where hundreds of engineers adopted it, filed bugs, contributed features, and shaped the product through direct feedback with the engineering team. That internal culture of contribution and trust is the foundation this role inherits. Now Kiro Crew lives on GitHub, and we're opening this thriving internal community to the world. There's already an engaged developer base, established contribution norms, and a product team accustomed to building with community input. What's missing is someone to translate that internal energy into external growth among developers who don't yet know the project. We're looking for an Open Source Community Manager to own that transition. You'll be the two‑way bridge: representing the product to external developers while channeling their signal back to the team.

Key job responsibilities
  • Run the community day to day. Triage issues, moderate channels, answer and route questions, keep response times low.
  • Build the newcomer‑to‑contributor pipeline. Design welcome flows, starter docs, good first issues, and mentorship. Shepherd PRs to merge, grow repeat contributors into trusted reviewers, and recognize top members through a champions program.
  • Run recurring rituals. Community calls, office hours, AMAs, and challenges that turn visitors into regulars.
  • Create content and represent the project. Publish blogs, tutorials, and samples. Show up at meetups, hackathons, and conferences with hands‑on workshops.
  • Amplify releases. Partner with engineering and DevRel to turn changelogs into launch stories across community channels and social.
  • Drive audience growth. Identify channels that reach the right developers, run experiments, measure what brings contributors who stay, and double down on what works. Build ecosystem relationships with adjacent tools and frameworks.
  • Be the community's voice inside AWS. Bring developer pain points and opportunities into roadmap conversations. Partner with PMM to keep positioning grounded in how developers actually talk about the tool.
  • Set the strategy. Define community health metrics and evolve the playbook as the project grows.

We help AWS service teams effectively engage with open source communities, media, analysts, and customers—increasing the scope of our open source involvement and helping people understand why it matters.

How You'll Work

You'll own the community function for Kiro Crew: setting direction, bringing proposals, not waiting for assignments. You'll partner closely with engineering, product, and product marketing: leaning on them for technical depth and roadmap context, while bringing them community signal, ecosystem context, and amplification. You'll also coordinate with developer advocacy on events, content, and partner work.
