Job summary

City of East Point is seeking an Open Records Administrator to manage day-to-day processing of requests, coordinate with departments, and provide timely, legally compliant responses. You will maintain accurate records, prepare estimates, and ensure confidentiality throughout the process.

The role reports to the City Clerk, supports the City Clerk's Office, and requires strong customer service and organizational skills to handle high volumes with accuracy and neutrality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of progressively responsible administrative support/records management experience required; municipal/government environment preferred.
  • Experience with open records processes and customer service.
  • Ability to draft professional communications and estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for open records requests via portal, email, mail, or in person.
  • Log, categorize, assign, and track requests in open records management system.
  • Coordinate with departments and staff to locate records and complete responses.
  • Provide timely status updates and cost estimates; communicate fees and prepayment requirements.
  • Prepare written acknowledgments, status updates, and response documents per Georgia Open Records Act.
  • Ensure proper redactions and refer complex questions to City Clerk/Attorney.
  • Maintain confidentiality and audit trails for each request.
  • Generate routine workload, backlog, and compliance reports for City Clerk.
