The USC School of Architecture invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured position in Heritage Conservation. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on experience and qualifications, with a start date anticipated in August 2027.

This faculty role supports the Master of Heritage Conservation program and engages with the history of Los Angeles, the Pacific Rim, and climate resilience.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in Heritage Conservation/Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Public History, Urban Planning, or related field; must be completed by start date.
• Distinguished scholarship and/or practice preferred; successful teaching and mentoring at university level valued.
• Professional training/experience in Heritage Conservation practice preferred.

The successful candidate will beappointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor,depending on experience and qualifications. The appointment isexpected to begin in August 2027.

The USC Master of Heritage Conservation program encourages facultyand students to engage directly with the rich, diverse history ofLos Angeles, Southern California, and the Pacific Rim. It iscommitted to the expansion of traditional conservation practices toaddress the most pressing challenges of the 21st century, includingdeveloping new approaches to cultural heritage and communitystewardship, addressing climate resilience, and advocating forcultural and social equity.

Required qualifications include a terminal degree (Masters/Ph.D.)in Heritage Conservation/Historic Preservation, ArchitecturalHistory, Public History, Urban Planning, or a related field.Candidates must have completed the terminal degree by theappointment start date. Preferred qualifications include adistinguished record of scholarship and/or practice, successfulteaching and mentoring at the university level, and professionaltraining/experience in Heritage Conservation practice.

The core salary range for this 9-month, full-time position is$97,850 - $155,530 per year.
