Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC, seeks an Open Rank – Medical Physicist in the Department of Radiology to join a four‑physicist team. The role includes clinical medical physics services, travel to satellite sites, and potential faculty appointment consideration.

Candidates should be board certified in medical physics with MS/PhD in Medical Physics and be eligible for faculty appointment. Teaching, research collaboration, and professional development are encouraged.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Medical Physics.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Experience with diagnostic imaging systems and system operation.
• Certified by the American Board of Radiology, American Board of Medical Physics or the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine.

Responsabilités

• Carry out annual performance evaluations of x-ray systems, MRI, ultrasound and CT.
• Oversee and review technologist quality control/quality assurance programs.
• Advise on clinical protocol management, dose assessment and Radiation Protection elements.
• Support licensing and accreditation of equipment (ACR, DES, TJC).
• Participate in staff and trainee training and education.
• Contribute to shielding design and assessment of shielding adequacy.
• Assess public exposure around x-ray rooms and optimize imaging procedures.
• Engage in teaching and research within Radiology residency and Physics programs.
