Job summary

The Open Rank position at UT MD Anderson will provide clinical expertise in patient care and an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents and students in Surgical Oncology. The surgeon will use robotic platforms for precise, minimally invasive operations to diagnose, stage, and remove GI tumors and will integrate research into a strong GI surgery program.

Qualifications

• Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to the faculty role.
• Licensed to practice in Texas.
• Board certified (or obtained within departmental timeline).
• Five years post clinical degree with clinician/scientist or GME trainee experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise in patient care and an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents and students.
• Perform computer-assisted robotic, minimally invasive operations to diagnose, stage, and remove GI tumors.
• Integrate research and programmatic efforts into an established GI surgery program.
• Contribute to establishing a competitive robotic platform within the cancer center.
• Lead and develop a robust GI surgery program as Open Rank professor.
