Job description

Description

The Department of Microbial Sciences in Health at Cleveland Clinic is seeking outstanding faculty candidates at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) to expand its internationally recognized microbiology program in emerging and re-emerging pathogens. We invite applications from investigators whose research spans pathogen biology, host–pathogen interactions, vaccines and immune-based interventions, and AI- and structure-guided therapeutic development. Applicants employing innovative experimental, computational, or translational approaches to understand, prevent, or treat infectious diseases are particularly encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will join a collaborative department of 22 investigators with complementary expertise in microbiome science, nutrition, bacterial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, chronic viral infections, emerging pathogens and viral cancers. The Department recently relocated to a new, state-of-the-art research building and biocontainment facility, with two new BSL3/ABSL3 laboratories totaling approximately 7,000 square feet and a new 5,000-square-foot gnotobiotic laboratory. Faculty will benefit from extensive collaborations across Cleveland Clinic's internationally recognized clinical and research enterprise, including the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, which provides advanced infectious disease diagnostics, as well as opportunities to engage with programs in immunology, genomics, structural biology, AI, and translational therapeutics. Successful candidates will hold a primary appointment in the Department of Microbial Sciences in Health and an academic appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
