Job description

The Clinical Psychology Program in the Department of Psychology of the College of Arts & Science at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a faculty position in Clinical Psychology at any rank, tenure-track or tenured. The Vanderbilt Clinical Psychology Program is internationally recognized for its strength in experimental psychopathology, affective science, intervention research, and clinical neuroscience. The successful candidate will join the core faculty of our APA- and PCSAS-accredited clinical science training program, which is designed to prepare students for academic/research careers in clinical psychology.

The Department of Psychology, housed within the College of Arts and Science, is a community of 27 full-time faculty with a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching in psychology and neuroscience. Our faculty are organized into three overlapping areas representing clinical science, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, and neuroscience. We have strong collaborative relations with the Department of Psychology and Human Development in Peabody College at Vanderbilt, hosting with them a joint PhD program in Psychological Sciences, and with the Department of Psychiatry and other departments affiliated with the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. For information about our faculty, department, and interdisciplinary opportunities, please see https://as.vanderbilt.edu/psychology/.

Vanderbilt University is a top ranked private research university. Its 330-acre park-like campus is located on the western edge of downtown Nashville, TN, known colloquially as Music City and is consistently rated as one of the best cities in the US in which to live and work.

Qualifications

We seek an exceptional individual who has a strong record of creative, methodologically rigorous, and conceptually driven research, and who, depending on rank, has clear potential for or a robust track record of obtaining extramural funding. We welcome applicants with a strong research program in any area of adult clinical psychology, broadly defined. We are especially interested in applicants whose work complements and extends existing strengths in our department, for example those with expertise in the development and implementation of evidence-based treatments for psychopathology using multi-method approaches, and/or those who conduct translational research that uses experimental approaches to inform the study of psychopathology. We welcome applicants with the capacity for teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and the capacity for mentoring and supporting graduate students and undergraduates in research. This position will also support the Arts & Science Core curriculum. A Ph.D., awarded no later than August 1, 2027, in Clinical Psychology from an APA- or PCSAS-accredited clinical program is required; completion of an APA-accredited internship is preferred but not required.
