Job summary

The Department of Epidemiology in the VCU School of Public Health invites applications for a faculty position in Epidemiologic Methods at the open rank, tenure-track or tenured, commensurate with experience. The incoming faculty member will expand the department’s expertise in quantitative and causal inference methods and collaborate across population, clinical, and translational science.

Qualifications

• PhD in Epidemiology or related field.
• Expertise in causal inference and quantitative methods.
• Familiarity with g-methods, proximal causal inference, quasi‑experimental designs, target trial emulation, and causal graphs.
• Strong teaching and mentoring potential.
• Evidence of external funding potential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a research program in epidemiologic methods and/or innovative causal inference applications.
• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in epidemiologic methods and quantitative approaches.
• Mentor doctoral and MPH students, postdocs, and junior faculty in methodological research.
• Engage in department, school, and university service activities.
