Job Opportunity: High-Level Virology Scientist at USF

The University of South Florida (USF) and USF Health Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) are seeking to fill an open-rank position for a distinguished scientist in the field of Virology. The role involves conducting research on viruses and viral diseases, publishing findings, securing high-level grants (including NIH grants), serving as a Principal Investigator, leading a research group, recruiting faculty, mentoring USF scientists and MDs, developing philanthropic relationships, and contributing to strategic planning, scientific, and recruitment priorities.

Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD) from an accredited institution, with a demonstrated record in teaching, research, and service.
  • For Associate/Full Professor: Proven creative work, professional publications, and recognition as an authority in the field.
  • Minimum 10 years of continuous NIH funding or comparable international grants, with current NIH funding at least one R01 and over $350,000 in direct costs annually.
  • At least 5 publications with an impact factor above 15, an H-index greater than 40, and a minimum of 10 years as a principal investigator at a renowned research institution.
