Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is hosting open interviews at 16911 Enterprise Blvd, Crest Hill, IL 60403. The event runs 9 AM–3 PM Central Time, with a 10 AM start. We’re seeking CDL-A drivers with HazMat and Tank endorsements, minimum 2 years of experience, and a focus on safety and reliability.

Earn $36.50 per hour with overtime after 40 hours, comprehensive benefits, and a friendly, growth-oriented culture. LTL experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• At least 23 years of age.
• At least 2 years of commercial driving experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with HazMat and Tank Endorsements.
• Valid DOT Physical/Medical Card.
• No DUI or reckless driving in past 3 years.
• Less than 2 moving violations in past 3 years.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Transport, load and unload freight between Service Centers and customers.
• Perform pre and post trip inspections on tractor/trailer.
• Document all freight control processes.
• Read maps, road signs, shipping papers and hazardous materials markings.
• Affix placards to tractor/trailer when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle.
• Assist customers in preparing shipping papers.
• Interact with external/internal customers.
• Operate forklift to unload/load products when indicated.
• Participate in Dayton Freight’s training and improvement programs.
• Be available for irregular work schedules and shifts.

Responsibilities

P&D Drivers are responsible for transporting, loading and unloading freight in a productive, safe and claims-free manner between our Service Centers and our customers.

• Perform pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer that is being utilized
• Properly document all freight control processes
• Read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings and labeling identifications
• Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle
• Assist customers in preparation of shipping papers
• Interact and converse with external/internal customers
• Safely operate a forklift to unload/ load products when indicated and needed
• Participate in Dayton Freight’s training and improvement programs
• Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating work shifts and/or assignments
• Adhere to the operational procedures and guidelines contained in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and perform physical tasks associated with driving, equipment inspections, and local pick-up and delivery operations. Duties may include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, ascending and descending from the vehicle, and handling freight and delivery equipment, with occasional manual handling of materials and use of powered tools or devices.
