Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate daily outpatient coding activities to ensure timely and accurate coding of medical records.
  • Review coded data for accuracy and compliance with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and payer requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between coding staff, clinical departments, and billing teams to resolve coding discrepancies and clarify documentation.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to coding personnel on coding updates, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • Monitor coding productivity and quality metrics, generating reports and recommending process improvements to enhance coding efficiency.
  • Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to support internal and external coding audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay current with industry coding standards, payer policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure organizational compliance.

Salary Range: $25.00 To $35.00 Hourly

About the Role:

The OP Coding Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of outpatient medical coding processes within healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for overseeing the coding workflow, coordinating between clinical staff and coding teams to guarantee that all outpatient procedures and diagnoses are correctly documented and coded according to regulatory standards. The role involves continuous monitoring of coding quality, providing training and support to coding staff, and collaborating with billing and compliance departments to optimize revenue cycle management. The OP Coding Coordinator also analyzes coding data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement. Ultimately, this position ensures that outpatient coding practices support accurate reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a related field.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in outpatient medical coding.
