Job summary

nVent is seeking an experienced lab engineer to lead hands‑on testing in our Anoka, MN R&D test lab. You will coach technicians, manage test setups, and drive equipment upgrades and process improvements in collaboration with engineering teams.

The role emphasizes hands‑on problem solving, instrumentation expertise, and a track record of maintaining quality data under ISO 17025 guidelines. On‑site work five days a week is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent hands‑on lab experience.
• 2–3 years of related experience with strong mechanical/electrical competence.
• Hands‑on testing, problem solving, and data interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Mentor laboratory technicians with hands‑on guidance and training to improve testing efficiency.
• Lead lab expansion: equipment sourcing, installation, calibration, maintenance, and coordination with facilities/external partners.
• Develop and maintain test procedures, instructions, and SOPs aligned with engineering standards.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external labs to plan product testing before release.
• Resolve complex instrument and test system issues with emphasis on safety, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure accurate, compliant test data in ISO 17025 environments.
