Actalent in Columbus, OH is seeking an entry‑level Quality Control Inspector to review HVAC and plumbing fabrication in a shop environment. You will verify drawings, inspect pre‑shipment components, and document nonconformities as part of project quality control for healthcare, education and large commercial builds.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings for HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Understand fabrication drawings and how they translate to components.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, design, and inspection practices.
• Basic sheet metal design and assembly knowledge.
• Basic mechanical inspection skills and dimensional checks.
• Able to read a tape measure accurately in a fabrication environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Interest in working for a mechanical contractor and in a fabrication shop.
• Exposure to commercial HVAC engineering concepts a plus.
• Familiarity with plumbing design for buildings a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings in the fabrication shop to verify proper fabrication per drawings.
• Inspect mechanical and plumbing systems in the fabrication shop prior to shipment to job sites.
• Conduct audits to confirm compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with fabrication team to guide methods for HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Use tape measures to confirm dimensions and tolerances on fabricated components.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying issues and communicating corrective actions.
• Maintain clear documentation of inspections, audits, and nonconformities.
