Job summary

DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking an onsite Moderator in Jersey City to ensure proper execution of study requirements. You will moderate sessions, troubleshoot data collection devices, and report daily results to the production team.

Job description

Work Location: Jersey City, NJ; Onsite

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

Role Summary

The Moderator will work directly with onsite participants to ensure the proper execution of study/project requirements. The primary responsibility is to moderate user sessions and provide updates to the other members of the production team, as well as performing basic troubleshooting of data collection technology. These sessions will involve participants performing guided activities while being video recorded.

Role Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain data collection equipment, offload data, manage logistics, provide daily reports, and lead the overall high-quality data generation for this effort, day in, day out
• Understand provided project documentation to assist participants
• Interact with participants and lead them through data collection projects
• Capture data for the assigned project, aiming to reach the targeted daily goal
• Utilize client tools to label/tag data
• Convey sessions details to the Project Manager and Production team
• Communicate and coordinate with project team
• Interact with various hardware & software
• Assist in preparing session materials and setting up facility
• Monitor and manage participant flow within the site
• Address participant questions and concerns in a professional manner
• Provide feedback on session dynamics and participant engagement
• Ability to lift up 45 to 50 lbs when needed

Role Requirements

• Strong technical proficiency, including hands‑on experience with iOS devices, basic hardware/software troubleshooting, and familiarity with command‑line tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly guide individuals or groups through structured sessions
• Ability to manage group dynamics, maintain a positive environment, and handle issues calmly and professionally
• High level of attention to detail, particularly when following protocols, documenting sessions, and creating or updating reports
• Strong problem‑solving skills, able to make real‑time decisions in a live onsite setting
• Adaptable and flexible, comfortable working in fast‑paced or changing environments
• Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and integrity, including adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards
• Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with the project staff: project manager, coordinator, scheduler
• Knowledge of research methodologies and ethical considerations is a plus
• Experience in onsite moderation, facilitation, proctoring, or similar participant‑facing roles is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communications, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
