Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee on-site project administration and manage the office engineers and jobsite administrator. You will handle project financials, scheduling, and coordination with owners, suppliers, and trade partners to resolve issues and manage changes.

Qualifications include a 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management, plus 2–4 years on large commercial projects, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite
  • Preferred Qualifications: Past internships in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project manager and superintendents: prepare monthly owner pay applications.
  • Identify and resolve interface conflicts between the company and trade partners.
  • Assist field supervisors on drawing interpretation, RFIs, and questions for architect/engineer.
  • Develop and manage cost control and labor recap with PM and superintendent.
  • Process and estimate potential change orders and RFIs.
  • Assist in development and management of the project schedule.
  • Assist with engineering details and special design.
  • Track and report project progress.
  • Assist with production analysis studies.
  • Manage timely acquisition of materials and equipment; field purchasing.
  • Run weekly owner/architect/contractor meetings and maintain minutes.
  • Assist in monthly margin analysis.
  • Update project records in Book of 14.
  • Participate in jobsite safety meetings and audits.
  • Support quality control plan and inspections.
  • Assist in BIM and VDC interpretation.
  • Manage and mentor office engineers and jobsite administrator.
