Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Network Management Systems Engineer to support a long-term DoD program focusing on enterprise network monitoring, management, and reliability. This 100% onsite role is in Norfolk, VA and will administer and optimize the Linux infrastructure and NMS platforms used to monitor a large-scale enterprise network.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required.
• 7+ years in systems engineering or related infrastructure.
• 3–5+ years supporting enterprise Network Management Systems.
• Hands-on administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.
• Experience deploying, configuring and troubleshooting enterprise NMS platforms.
• Familiar with OpenText NNMi, OpenText Network Automation, Cisco Catalyst Center, Arista CloudVision or Aruba AirWave.
• Strong knowledge of SNMP/SNMPv3, Syslog, SSH, ICMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, and monitoring workflows.
• Experience with Ansible and scripting (Python/Bash) for automation.
• Security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and DISA STIG compliance.
• Bachelor-level degree in a technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot RHEL 8 servers supporting enterprise NMS across environments.
• Perform lifecycle management, including provisioning, patching, upgrades, and remediation.
• Monitor and optimize Linux system performance and storage for NMS databases and telemetry.
• Manage high-write storage with LVM and support capacity planning.
• Use OpenText NNMi, NNM, and related tools to manage NMS platforms.
• Configure SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, and telemetry for enterprise monitoring.
• Develop and maintain NMS dashboards, alerting, and fault-management workflows.
• Automate provisioning and configuration with Ansible, Python, and Bash.
• Integrate NMS with CMDB, ServiceNow, and ITSM environments.
