Overview

Title: DataCenter Technician

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 6-12+ Months

Location: Afton, TX

Role and Responsibilities

• Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability and reliability.
• Conduct hardware and network diagnostics and repairs.
• Root cause analysis of hardware and software failures.
• Training of internal teams.
• Development of documentation.
• Provide technical support to data center teams.
• Development of scripts to update the server and networking hardware.
• Maintain inventory.
• Assemble and install equipment.
• Perform maintenance of test and tool equipment.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to other data center locations as required by business needs.
• Essential duties include the ability to respond to on-site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while on scheduled on-call.
• Computer Hardware experience (troubleshooting| assembling)Linux Operating System experience.
• Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods to perform diagnostic and repair tasks.
• Ability to maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces| such as under-floor areas or on ladders| to access server racks.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills| such as handling small hardware components and cables.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule within a 24/7 environment| including participating in a rotating on-call shift.
• Excellent time management| organizational| and communication skills.
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and react quickly to issues.
• Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled data center.
• Candidates must be able to perform essential job duties in an environment with fluctuating temperatures and variable airflow - specifically within designated hot and cold aisles - ranging from 60F to 90F.

Preferred

• Hands-on OR education-based experience with any of the following areas: Computer Hardware| including troubleshooting and repair skills experience.
• Data Center experience.
• Computer Networking experience.
• Python| Bash| or other scripting languages experience.
• Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS.
• An Associates Degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
