Job summary

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in mechanical design, analysis, modeling, and hardware integration.
• Experience leading engineering teams or IPT-style execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of mechanical design, development, integration, and testing to support Ultra Stack ramp-up.
• Define project schedules, budgets, staffing, and milestones with the Program Manager and Chief Engineer.
• Drive tasks per RTX ME discipline guidelines: design, modeling, analysis, materials evaluation, integration.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to mechanical and cross-functional teams.
• Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and supplier risks; develop risk-reduction plans.
• Act as primary engineering interface with internal and external stakeholders; communicate status and direction.
• Partner with OSCM/MPM to vet and select suppliers for production surge requirements.
• Evaluate and qualify multiple suppliers per part to meet rate demands.
• Ensure mechanical integrity with Ultra Stack knowledge (architecture, tolerances).
• Balance quality and quantity by assessing supplier capability and defect trends.
• Develop upstream testing strategies to reduce downstream inspection.
• Support onsite and offsite supplier assessments, readiness audits, and ramp activities.
• Travel ~25% early in role; reduce as supplier base matures.
• Maintain tracking of supplier progress, actions, configuration, risks, and quality trends.
