Job summary

TRUMPF Inc. in Hoffman Estates, IL invites a mechanical engineering student for an onsite internship in the Flexible Systems Department. The role offers practical experience aligning classroom learning with real-world layout, 3D modeling, and technical documentation.

You'll support layout engineers, prepare drawings and system assemblies, process scans, and contribute to process guidelines. Commitment: at least 24 hours weekly from January 2027 through August 2027.

Qualifications

• AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D modeling software.

• Good technical understanding of process flows.

Responsibilities

• Support layout engineers.
• Prepare layout and foundation drawings.
• Process buildings scans.
• Prepare system 3D assemblies.
• Prepare 2D layout and foundation drawings.
• Create technical documentation: System configuration overview (e.g. LiftMaster, Tube Storage).
• Prepare guidelines for layout process.
• Support with technical library: Create SmartSheet Dashboard to allow easy entry of topics.
• Create work instruction.
