Job summary

The Florida Institute of Oceanography (an institute of the University of South Florida) is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Layton, FL marine laboratory. This 100% onsite role supports general facility maintenance, multi-trade diagnostics, minor construction, and custodial tasks for all KML facilities.

Requirements include completion of an approved apprenticeship program or a high school diploma with four years of related experience and a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship completion or HS diploma with 4 years related experience.
• A valid Florida Driver's License.
• Experience in general facility maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains buildings, grounds and provides custodial services.
• Installs, repairs, and removes equipment, signs, and fixtures; performs drywall, painting, and basic carpentry tasks.
• Cleans light fixtures, replaces bulbs, and performs minor electrical adjustments.
• Operates cleaning equipment and ensures safety in assigned areas.
• May assist with hurricane preparation and related duties as needed.
• Performs other maintenance, grounds, and custodial duties as required.
