Quantum Fuel Systems LLC is seeking a Manager of Component Engineering to lead a small team of mechanical engineers. You will direct technical strategy, supplier interactions, and design for hydrogen and CNG vehicle components at our Lake Forest, CA headquarters, onsite only.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, safety-driven design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance new products and improve existing ones in the alternative fuel sector.

Qualifications

• BS ME degree required, plus 5 years' experience.
• Gaseous component design experience.
• Minimum 2 years in supervisory role.
• Ability to simplify complex technical topics for any audience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the component engineering team; set goals and grow expertise.
• Plan workload, projects, and resources to meet schedules.
• Represent the team in cross-functional and leadership meetings; report status.
• Collaborate to create innovative designs for alternative fuel safety products and gas systems.
• Lead high-pressure component design and risk assessments for safety and compliance.
• Prepare specifications for hydrogen and CNG components for various markets.
• Perform product verification/testing and support DFMEA/ADVP&R processes.
