Job summary

Wood PLC is seeking a Lead HVAC Technician for LNG Operations‑Maintenance on site in Brownsville, TX. The role provides technical leadership, mentoring and oversight of HVAC maintenance across the facility to maximize availability, reliability and efficiency of HVAC/ENV control systems.

The position requires 10+ years in industrial HVAC/refrigeration, a recognized HVAC credential, and CMMS/SAP experience. Strong safety culture and ability to lead outages and vendor teams are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 10+ years of industrial HVAC and refrigeration maintenance experience in hydrocarbon, petrochemical, LNG, power generation or safety‑critical facility.
• Recognized HVAC trade qualification, apprenticeship, technical diploma or equivalent credential.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification or ability to obtain.
• Experience maintaining centrifugal and screw chillers, AHUs, ventilation and related systems.
• Experience with Building Management/Automation Systems and alarm/trend review.
• Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP or similar for work orders and inspections.
• Ability to read HVAC drawings, P&IDs, control schematics and schedules.
• Experience with hazardous‑area HVAC equipment and regulatory compliance.
• Experience leading outages, major maintenance campaigns and vendor teams.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proactive safety leadership and reinforce safe work practices.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical direction, mentoring and coaching to HVAC technicians and contractors.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, OT, IT and other teams while maintaining One‑Team approach.
• Support KPIs and scheduling processes for LNG maintenance.
• Assist the Supervisor with work allocation, Safety Critical Elements and backlog management.
• Lead preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance for HVAC and related systems.
• Provide first‑line technical escalation for complex HVAC faults and coordinate vendor support.
• Lead HVAC teams during major outages, turnarounds and unit shutdowns.
• Ensure safe completion of locked‑schedule activities and minimize deferrals.
• Support materials, spares, refrigerants and tools management for HVAC systems.
• Drive energy efficiency and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Provide coverage for the Maintenance Supervisor when required.
• Participate in HSSE meetings, start‑ups and toolbox talks.
• Complete safety audits and field verifications of HVAC activities.
• Review and update maintenance strategies, plans and documentation.
