Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Financial Advocate to determine and communicate patients’ financial responsibilities prior to services, including insurance coverage, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Typically 2 years of experience in Patient Access, health care, insurance industry, or customer service.
• Ability to clearly explain HIPAA/EMTALA regulations and patient financial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and explain patient financial responsibility prior to service.
• Explain deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, and non-covered services.
• Obtain upfront payment or set up payment plans with patients.
• Identify financial assistance options and help complete applications.
• Assist Medicaid/charity care applications with state/social workers as needed.
• Educate providers and patients on policies like Financial Assistance and Non-Covered Services.
